An Example of the Power of Intuition

A True Story about how Intuition Saved My Life!

There is great value in understanding the power of intuition and there are many benefits of developing intuition. In fact, learning how to make the intuitive connection may be one of the most important skills that we can develop in our lifetime.

While intuition is a practical tool that we can use on a daily basis to make decisions, the power of intuition also has the ability to warn us of danger, guide us to safety and even save our life. There are many true stories about how the power of intuition has saved people’s lives, including my own.

How The Power Of Intuition Saved My Life

Over 10 years ago, I felt disconnected from my own heart and soul. This launched me onto a path of personal growth and healing.

During this time, I was learning how to recognize, trust and follow my intuition and I was experiencing a deeper spiritual connection.

Just as I was in the midst of finding true happiness, I heard a voice inside of my head....

The Voice of Intuition:

This voice seemed to come out of nowhere and it said to me, "Go get your moles checked." It was strong and firm. I basically said to myself, "Whatever" and moved on with my life.

A woman with her mouth against a megaphone.

However, the voice would not leave me alone. Day after day, the voice grew louder and louder and more persistent.

So finally, I gave in and said, "Okay! I'll go!"

Honestly, I went to the doctor just to quiet the voice as it was becoming rather annoying.

The Doctor and the Diagnosis:

When I went to our family Doctor, he said there was a mole on my back that he was concerned about and he felt strongly that I should have a dermatologist look at it.

When I went to the dermatologist she wanted to do surgery to remove the mole that day. We settled on later that week.

Soon after, she called me and I went in to receive the results of the biopsy. I was told that I had Melanoma and that the skin cancer was border line between a late stage two and early stage three cancer, which means that it was fairly advanced but treatable. The next step was surgery with a plastic surgeon ASAP.

Surgery and the Road to Recovery:

I had the surgery and I while it went well, I had no idea what I was in for. Thank goodness, my mom had the foresight to stay with us for a week to help take care of our kids.

Over time, the long scar on my back healed but the year that followed was....well, shall we say, not so good?

I had countless moles removed as a precautionary measure. While the surgeries where all out-patient, minor and nothing like the initial surgery, I felt like I was on a physical, mental and emotional roller coaster.

With two young kids at home, having surgery every one to three months was a challenge and the surgeries where getting me down.

However, I knew that there are people who go thru much more difficult things than this. I knew that instead of feeling down, I should feel grateful that the cancer was caught early enough to be removed.

A long, dark road with barren terrain on both sides of the road. Dark, stormy clouds hover above.

Even with the awareness that things could have been worse and that I have much to be grateful for, I still felt angry, discouraged and frustrated.

With all the surgeries and so many moles that still needed to be removed, the road ahead seemed long and dark. I wondered if the surgeries would ever end.

Acceptance and Healing:

Eventually I gave myself permission to acknowledge that this was hard thing to go thru. In fact, it was one of the most challenging years of my life.

This whole experience took me even deeper into a journey of awakening and healing on all levels. Even though the cancer was behind me now, I realize that it was a pivotal experience in my life and at a young age I came to terms with my own mortality.

Gratitude for the Power of Intuition:

A woman standing in a meadow with her arms up, facing a sun with huge radiant rays.

I often wonder, if I had not been on this path of awakening spiritually and if I had not been learning how to recognize and trust my intuition, would I have heard the voice?

Of course, part of me thinks that there is no way that I couldn’t have heard the voice since it was so loud and persistent.

However, if I continued to disregard and ignore the voice in my head, the Melanoma could have continued to grow silently in my body until it was too late to be treated.

If I ever doubted the power of intuition, I will never doubt it again. Intuition saved my life! Thank God for that loud, persistent, annoying inner voice! I will be forever grateful. In fact, I feel that God was speaking to me thru my intuition. I guess it wasn't my time to go.

Now you have a little insight about why I am so passionate about helping people live their life to the fullest. Melanoma was my wake up call and a reminder that life is short - let's make the best of it!
