Understanding the Power of Intention
What is the Power of Intention? Every thing that exists, exist because of intention. For example, every goal that we set and everything that we manifest comes thru the power of intention.
It has been said that every thought is an intention. Just like our thoughts, intentions can be conscious or unconscious. When we are conscious of our intentions, we create consciously in our lives.
Thru setting clear intentions, we communicate clearly with the Universe, identifying and expressing our goals and desires. The universe responds to our intentions by assisting us in fulfilling our goals and desires.
Defining Intention
Traditionally, we think of intentions as goals that we want to achieve. Here are a few definitions of Intention found in the Merriam-Webster dictionary:
- Close attention; intentness.
- A determination to act in a certain way or to do a certain thing.
- The object toward which the thoughts are directed; end; aim.
These definitions help us to understand that our thoughts and actions reflect our intentions.
What IS the Power of Intention?
Understanding the Power of Intention comes with the awareness that while intention does relate to our thoughts, goals and actions, intention is also a powerful energy.
In his book, The Power of Intention, Dr. Wayne Dyer verifies this when he states that intention is much more than “a determined ego or individual will.” He describes intention as “a force that exists in the universe as an invisible field of energy.”
Everything in the universe has intention built into it. For example, if you cut an acorn open, you won’t see an oak tree but you know that the potential is there.
Dyer explains that the energy of intention is what turns the acorn into an oak tree and the apple blossom into an apple.
We can think of intention as an energy that is the source of all creation. We could say that the energy of intention is one with God, the Universe or the Divine. This energy is always available to us and will assist us in fulfilling our dreams.
When we align our goals and desires with this energy, we set into motion the manifestation of what we are intending to have, do, be, experience or accomplish. This is the power of intention!
