Finding True Happiness

A Journey of Spiritual Awakening

Finding true happiness is a journey. The path will be different for each of us. In our search for true happiness, we may not even know exactly what we are looking for but thru our pure intention and desire to live from a deeper place, we will be led.

Here is a true story of how an ache inside of me, encouraged me to find true happiness...

The Beginning of my Search for True Happiness

Over 10 years ago, I was absorbed in my roles as wife and a full time mom to two young boys.

I love being a full time mom and I always knew that when I had kids, I would want to stay home with them. I was living the life I always wanted.

However, I slowly began to notice that something was nagging at me from within. There was a small place inside of me that wasn't fully happy.

It felt like something was missing from the perfect picture of my life but what was it? I wondered why I was "suddenly" feeling a void, an empty place inside of me?

I got to thinking that if my marriage was better than I wouldn't feel this way. My marriage wasn’t bad by any means but at the same time, I didn’t feel completely fulfilled in our relationship.

While I didn't entirely understand why I had this ache within me nor did I know what I was longing for, I hired a Spirit Coach to assist me in finding true happiness.

Little did I know, that this was the beginning of a journey that would lead me not only back to myself, but also into the heart of God.

One "Aha!" Moment After Another

When we aren't happy, that unhappiness seems to leak out into other areas of our life. Sometimes we mistakenly place blame where it doesn't belong and ironically, blame only increases our unhappiness.

After a short time of doing some inner work (with a Spirit Coach and on my own), I was able to see that any unhappiness that I felt in my marriage was just a reflection of the empty space inside of me.

The truth was, I felt disconnected from the deepest part of myself. I realized that somewhere along the way in caring for my family, I slowly lost sight of my own needs. In fact, I even forgot if I even had any passions or desires, outside of my family. It seemed like I had a distant memory of having other passions in my life but I couldn't remember what they were.

As I continued my inner work, I also became aware that I was carrying sadness, anger and even unforgiveness from different relationships and experiences that I've had throughout my life. I created time regularly to heal the wounds of the past (and present) within my own heart and soul.

Of course healing isn't always easy but even still, I couldn't get enough and I soaked up every ounce of healing and growth that I could, knowing that ultimately this was the path that would lead to finding true happiness.

Finding True Happiness

A Happy Ending, or Should I Say...Beginning?.

As I was immersed in this journey of self discovery, I was learning how to develop my intuition. I began to trust the intuitive voice that seemed to live within me and I started to experience the blessings of allowing this divine wisdom to guide me in my life.

During this time of healing and re-awakening spiritually, I did re-connect with the deepest part of myself and I could feel God’s presence again in my heart and soul.

Passion did become alive in me once again. I was beginning to bloom, I wasn't pregnant again with another child but I was indeed pregnant with new life...my life. I was in the midst of finding true happiness!

What Is True Happiness?

Most likely, we would all define it differently. Here are some of the things that my journey has taught me about true happiness:

  • True happiness can’t be bought, sold or taken away.

  • True happiness goes beyond the surface of what we do and what we have, it is the very essence of who we are at our core.

  • True happiness comes from knowing ourselves from the inside – out and I believe that true happiness deepens when we feel a connection to a power or energy greater than ourselves.

  • True happiness is when our outer life is a reflection of our deepest desires (meaning that we are living our passions, our joys, etc).

  • True happiness is living and giving from the heart.
